Another Saturday, another parkrun. This time, the regional town of Traralgon.
Just a stones throw from the start/finish of the 5km youâll find Food Co. on Franklin. Sweaty, hungry and in need of some caffeine we walked on over.
The cafe offers a clean fresh vibe when you walk in. I felt underdressed being all sweaty in my running gear. I like that they donât take bookings and itâs just a first come first serve basis, so even if you ever need to wait a minute youâll always get a table.
We sat in the outside garden which is nice, and great for your doggies with plenty of space, poles to tie up them up, and water bowls to quench their thirst.
Unfortunately, the espresso was not good. I was let down by a dull, flat shot offering not much to my tastebuds. In intervals, I felt like there was some sweetness trying to force feed itself on to my taste buds, but felt like it kept getting blocked by a dull bitterness that wouldnât go away.
I am not sure what beans are used here, but this is the problem with these regional cafes – they will almost always support locally, which is honestly a great thing. But in terms of good quality espresso, they are often well off a well established specialty roaster.
If youâre hungry though, I could recommend this place, the food is good and customer service is friendly.
