After parkrun, we were in need of some good coffee and something to wash it down.

My partner googled this place and I went along for the ride.

As I walked in, I immediately mental noted their beans: code black coffee. A roaster I had not yet tried, and to be honest was a little skeptical of. For some reason my little brain wrongly imagined them of being more focussed on dark roasts (yuck) and organic coffee.

As I raised my cup, I could smell the sweetness. And my first sip: HOLY great god of Gondor. Shockingly good. Not sure if espresso, or drinking cup full of raspberries & strawberries. Friggin delicious. It also had a unique texture to it.

I just HAD to ask the barista on my way out – was absolutely gobsmacked when she told me the bean was a blend. Code Black’s seasonal blend to be exact. I think I can safely say it’s the best blend I’ve ever tasted.

The barista also politely informed me of their recipe: 19g in / 46g out in about 25-27 seconds. I’m keen to try it myself.

Food was legit too. The customer service was actually very good (they gave me their toilet code) but I had to harshly drop it to 7.5 as my espresso came out with a dirty spoon (green slime, looked like pesto juice) I don’t know how they missed that 😩

Either way, would recommend. Have you been here? Have you tried code black coffee? Drop a comment below.
